ABOUT TEXAS LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT (TXLSA)

Texas Light Sport Aircraft (TXLSA) has served the light sport aviation community since 2016. The business was built by Paul Whetstone, a Rotax-certified mechanic known for practical expertise and trusted service to aircraft owners.

Following Paul’s unfortunate passing in 2024, the business has been relaunched to preserve and extend operations under the Texas Light Sport Aircraft name.

Today, TXLSA is being expanded with a broader mission:

• support local and regional aircraft owners through hangar-based services, and

• build a national specialty parts business serving both aircraft and UAV markets

TXLSA combines aviation roots, operational practicality, and a forward-looking approach to the technologies shaping the future of flight.

As part of this relaunch, TXLSA is upgrading and sprucing up Hangar #14 in Bulverde to support enhanced storage capability and improved coordination of maintenance services performed by independent third-party providers.

Our Mission

To provide reliable, practical aviation support by combining trusted local service infrastructure with a focused national parts business for light aircraft, both manned and unmanned.

Paul Whetstone

TXLSA proudly carries forward the legacy of our late founder, Paul Whetstone, whose vision, craftsmanship, and passion for aviation established the company’s enduring standard of excellence. Under Paul’s leadership, “Texas Rotax and Light Sport Aircraft, LLC” became an official Rotax Independent Repair Centre in 2017 in Bulverde, Texas, allowing the company to provide authorized warranty work and trusted support for Rotax service needs. That certification remained an important part of the business until 2024, when it concluded following Paul’s passing.

Throughout his career, Paul earned the respect of customers and peers alike through his work on a wide range of Rotax-powered Light Sport Aircraft—including Pipistrel, Sport Cruiser, Tecnam, Sting, Vans, and others—and by expanding the company’s capabilities as a Dynon service center for avionics installation and support. More than his many aviation accomplishments, inventions, and adventures, Paul left behind a legacy of quality, responsiveness, and ingenuity that continues to guide us today.

As TXLSA enters its next chapter, we are proud to build on the strong foundation he created and anticipate continuing Rotax-related support through valued partnerships that reflect the same commitment to service he championed.
